Jerry Boorsma, Organ
Consultant and Clinician A resident of Wisconsin, Jerry has a B.A. in Music Education from Calvin College. He has been involved with his family in a singing musical ministry, and has served as an organist for churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Jim Hockin, Sales Associate
and Education Specialist Jim has studied organ since age 10 being coached by his organist father. His background is piano performance at the University of MN. He has performed with the Mpls. Symphony and Lake Harriet Orchestras on piano and has studied organ with Dr. Edward D. Berryman. He has served as a Twin Cities organist for over 35 years at various churches, and originated the "KEY NOTES" e-mail support column for Rodgers Organ Studio clients. He recently retired from dental practice in Minneapolis and is the local voicer and workshop presenter for Rodgers. Jim has been on the staff since 1997 actively working with organists and churches to learn how to get the most out of their Rodgers organ and sound module. |

GUEST ARTIST: Rodney Barbour, Concert Artist, Educator and Consultant Rodney, a native of Huntington, West Virginia, is an accomplished performer on keyboard and low brass instruments. He holds the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education and Organ Performance from Marshall University and the Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Cincinnati. Additional studies include: the completion of all Doctoral course work and recitals for the organ performance degree from the University of Cincinnati; studies in worship, organ performance and childrens music at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and study at the Creative Education Foundation at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Rodney was honored to be a presenter at both the 2000 and 2004 National Conventions of the American Guild of Organists on the topic of MIDI and Orchestral Use of the Organ in Worship. He has several publications, the latest being:Wedding Processionals and Recessionals, a collection of music orchestrated for Organ and Orchestral MIDI Sounds accompanied by a performance CD published by Concordia. In addition, Rodney is currently featured on 9 CD recordings available from the performer. Current activities of Rodney Barbour include travel as Concert Organist, worship leader, educator and consultant in the field of church music.Rodney serves as Director of Worship and Arts at Crestview Presbyterian Church, West Chester, Ohio. |

GUEST ARTIST: Hector Olivera, Concert Artist, Educator Hector
Olivera is a passionate, gifted, and unique musician,
whose personal interpretations of both classical and
popular music have amazed and delighted audiences around
the world. He has performed as guest soloist with many
orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Fort
Wayne Symphony, the Dover-New Philadelphia Orchestra, the
Dallas Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Amsterdam
Baroque Ensemble, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the
Pasadena Symphony. Although he is most famous for his
prodigious technical proficiency, Hector's ability to
incorporate MIDI into classical organ selections makes
him a popular international performer and one of the
great organists in the world. |

Jim Merten, Technical Advisor,
New Life Lutheran Church, Shoreview Jim is an organist at New Life Lutheran Church, Shoreview, MN. He contributes regularly to technical questions about MIDI interfaces between Rodgers organs and other MIDI equipment. His experience at Unisys Corporation has made this web page possible. Jim has also assisted organists in using Hymnsoft, a software program used by the WELS church, and is currently working on a data base for the entire WELS hymnal. He is a co-presenter of workshops sponsored by Rodgers Organ Studio. |
